THE ALABASTER HAND (NEW EDITION)
by A. N. L. Munby
with an Introduction
by Michael Cox

ISBN: 1-899562-83-4; xxi + 135pp
Published 29 December 1999 in an edition of 350 copies

The Alabaster Hand was Ash-Tree Press's second published hardcover in 1995, at which time it was produced in an edition of only 250 copies. Such has been the demand, and so highly is the volume sought, that we have been persuaded to reprint A.N.L. Munby's classic collection, and the new volume will be available from 29 December 1999 onwards.

The fourteen chilling tales in this collection were written while A.N.L. ('Tim') Munby was a prisoner in Germany during World War II. Munby's spectres haunt locations as diverse as a Bristol bookshop, a Tudor Hall, the Snowdonian mountains, the peaceful Herefordshire countryside, a Book of Hours, and the remote Cuillin mountain range of the Isle of Skye.

Munby skilfully brings his own specialised antiquarian knowledge to each of the stories in this, his own tribute to the great M.R. James. The Alabaster Hand is recognised as a genuine cornerstone of supernatural literature.

Michael Cox's Introduction provides much helpful background information about a man who was for many years Librarian of King's College, Cambridge.

Jacket art is by Rachel A. Crittenden.
